Lakshman Anand is an independent cinematographer. He began his career as a documentary photographer, working in mainstream news for print publications in 2006.

 

Over the years, he developed a strong interest in filmmaking and started shooting non-fiction narratives. He has filmed episodic shows for networks such as Discovery, History Channel, National Geographic, and Epic.

 

Lakshman has extensively worked on numerous brand films related to automobiles and lifestyle, collaborating with agencies like Dentsu, Ogilvy & Mather, McCann, Lowe Lintas, JWT, Leo Burnett, and Media Monks.

 

He also collaborated closely with Media Monks to create a virtual production studio based on the Unreal Engine platform, filming on LED screens, which is currently operational in Film City, Noida.

 

Driven by a passion for exploring characters and new genres, Lakshman ventured into feature-length projects. He worked as the cinematographer for the film "Garbage," directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee. This feature was showcased at the 63rd Berlinale in 2018 and the Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, Lakshman worked as a Director of Photography for another feature, "Kriya," directed by Sidharth Srinivasan. This film was screened at the Fantasia Film Festival in Toronto in 2020.

 

He studied his camera work at the Mind Screen Institute in Chennai (2014), under the mentorship of Rajiv Mennon. 

 

Currently, Lakshman is based in New Delhi.
